I love lime green ornamental sweet potato vines (lpomoea batatas) for my planters and had a surprise this year. I pulled the vines after a frost and found I had a crop as well!

They're actually edible, but remember they're grown for foliage and not taste, and may have been sprayed with pesticides not intended for food crops. So maybe not a good idea for dinner, but you can store them in a cool, dry space and use them to start new vines next spring.
